Description

Closes #582.

This PR adds a standalone page at /soggycat. The page replicates the functionality of https://soggy.cat.

Behavior:

  • The page shows a photo of a wet cat inside a bathtub, on a radial gradient background.
  • The photo tilts in 3D when the pointer moves over it.
  • A round frosted button in the bottom-right corner opens a slide-in side menu.
  • The side menu has these actions: code (this repository), enter code, no css, upload, photo (image credit), and original (soggy.cat).
  • enter code opens a small input. The codes SSE, soggy, and GOOG navigate to fun targets. A wrong code plays a short synthesized buzz.
  • upload lets the user pick a local image. The page then extracts the five dominant colors from the image and rebuilds the gradient from them.
  • /soggycat/nocss serves a bare variant with only the image.
  • In June, the photo gets an animated holographic sheen.

License and provenance

  • The original soggy.cat code is AGPL-3.0, and this repository is MIT. Because of this, the implementation is original code. No code or assets from the original project are copied.
  • The tilt effect, the palette extraction, and the buzzer are small original implementations. The page adds no dependencies.
  • The photo is "Sphynx taking a bath" from Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 2.5. The side menu links to the source as attribution.

Verification

  • npx tsc --noEmit passes.
  • npx eslint app/soggycat passes.
  • Both routes return 200 on a local dev server. Headless-browser screenshots confirm the gradient, the tilt frame, the side menu, and the code modal. The browser console shows no errors from this page.
  • The Vitest suite shows 3 failures in techCommitteeApplication.config.route.test.ts. These failures are not related to this PR. This PR adds new files only.

Notes

  • The base is development. The branch was created from main because the remote repository did not have it.
  • No schema changes. No new environment variables.
