Story Summary

As a maintainer, I want strong backend/API test coverage with automated lint/test checks, so that regressions are caught early and code quality is enforced before
merge
.

Problem / Context

Backend route behavior had testing gaps, and CI quality checks needed clearer structure for fast failure and reliable validation.

Scope

  • In scope:
  • Add/expand direct tests for backend API route handlers
  • Add/maintain lint and test CI workflows
  • Add HTML coverage report generation flow
  • Keep testing audit current with coverage status
  • Out of scope:
  • Broad feature refactors not required for testability
  • Non-backend/UI-focused test expansion

Acceptance Criteria

  • Given API route handlers under next/app/api/**/route.ts, when the test suite runs, then all route files have direct test coverage.
  • Given a pull request to protected branches, when CI executes, then lint and test workflows run and report status.
  • Given developers need coverage visibility, when npm run test:report is executed, then an HTML report is generated and accessible.

Implementation Tasks

  • Add/expand route-level tests to close backend API gaps.
  • Add/update CI workflows for lint and test (with sensible trigger/filter settings).
  • Add/verify test report script and update testing audit documentation.

Testing Notes

  • New/updated tests identified
  • Manual test steps listed

Definition of Done

  • Acceptance criteria met
  • Linked PR is merged to dev
  • Docs updated if setup/process/behavior changed
  • Project board status moved to Done
